Ingredients

2 Cups all purpose flour

1/8 tsp baking powder

pinch of salt

1 3/4 cup sugar

1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter

5 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Prepare pan by coating with butter and dusting with flour. Set aside

Let butter come to room temperature

Sift flour with dry ingredients

Cream softened butter and sugar for 8 minutes in mixer (do not shorten the time) Add one egg at a time, mixing thoroughly. Add flour slowly, mixing well Add vanilla Bake 350 for 40-45 minutes until cake tester comes clean

Serve plain, with fruit, ice cream or sauce
