Ingredients
1 1/4 C (2 1/2 sticks) butter softened
1/2 C sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1/8 tsp nutmeg (optional)
3 C oats (quick or other)
2 C chocolate chips
1 C chopped walnuts
Preparation
Heat oven to 375F. Cream butter & sugars til light & fluffy. Beat in egg & vanilla. Stir flour w/b.soda, salt, spices. Add to creamed mixture, mix well. Stir in oats. Fold in chips & nuts. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-9 mins for chewy cookie, 10-11 for crisp. Cool 1 min on sheet, remove to rack. Store in tightly covered container.
