Ingredients

1-1/4 cups margarine (2-1/2

sticks) at room

temperature

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1-1/2 cups unsifted flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg

3 cups uncooked oats

1 12 oz bag GHIRARDELLI

Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Optional: 1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Heat oven to 375° F. Cream margarine with sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir flour with baking soda, salt and spices; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in oats. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts (optional). Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 9 minutes for a chewy cookie, 10 to 11 minutes for a crisp cookie. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire cooling racks. Store in tightly covered container.
