Ingredients
3 cups of water
3/4 cup of honey
1/2 vanilla bean
1 long strip of orange peel
2 cups of dried fruit (apricots, raisins, cherries, prunes, nectarines, etc.)
Preparation
Place the water, honey, vanilla bean, and orange peel into a pot and bring to a boil. Add the dried fruit. Bring back to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Strain out the fruit and return liquid to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5-10 minutes until the liquid becomes thick and syrupy. Pour back over fruit. Serve hot, cold, or at room temperature.
