Ingredients
CAKE
1 1/2 cups flour
3 T. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
5 T. oil
2 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup cold water
FROSTING
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 T. milk
Preparation
CAKE
Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and baking soda into an ungreased 8 inch square pan
Make 3 holes in the flour mixture with the back of a wood spoon
Pour oil into one hole
Pour vinegar into one hole
Pour vanilla into the remaining hole
Pour water over the entire mixture
Stir with a wire whisk until well mixed
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes
FROSTINGMelt butter in a saucepan
Add cocoa to melted butter, stir
Add powdered sugar to cocoa mixture. Stir until smooth
Spread frosting on top of cooled cake. Cut into bars and serve on plates
